Snap Shackles

Here you will find a large choice of stainless steel Snap Shackles manufactured by Wichard and Proboat. They can be used for a multitude of heavy or light duty applications for yachting and industry. Only made from the highest grade stainless steels, for maximum strength and corrosion resistance, with differing types of release mechanisms and attachment methods: Swivel, large bail, fixed eye, clevis pin and webbing.

Wichard Forged Snap Shackles
The main components are hot dropped forged from a single piece of stainless steel, adding strength and consistency of manufacture for total security and reliability. The technical characteristics of every product is closely controlled and tested before, during and after the manufacturing process allowing Wichard to stamp its brand on them with every confidence. Manufactured in highly polished HR (High Resistance 17.4PH) stainless steel for greater mechanical strength and higher working loads.

Trigger Snap Shackles (Speedlink)
The Wichard Speedlink was developed using finite element analysis software and has an optimised design. Its shape, cut-outs and ribs make it extremely light and give it one of the best strength to weight ratios on the market. Speedlink’s ultra-technical lines make it one of the most modern and efficient Snap Shackles available.

The special load-bearing surface of the swivel eye avoids excessive rope wear while its’ overall design prevents adjacent lines from snagging. Opening under load using a release fid is easy and effortless thanks to the generous passage diameter and optimised slopes. The special shape of the latch reduces inertia and avoids unintentional opening especially under impact, while the distribution of stresses limits the effort needed to open it under load.

The Wichard Speedlink is forged in HR (High Resistance 17.4PH) stainless steel resulting in exceptional working and breaking loads for a minimum weight.

There are three versions: Universal swivel eye, webbing swivel eye and swivel clevis fork. The universal eye is for halyards and spinnaker sheets accepting one or two sheets spliced directly or via extra snap shackles. The webbing eye version has an optimised design to accept webbing for sail tack points while the clevis fork allows retro fitting, particularly useful for furler tack points.

Quick Release Snap Shackles
Forged in HR (High Resistance 17.4PH) stainless steel with a smooth oval design, the Wichard Quick Release is ideal for spinnaker sheets and guys. Their unique release mechanism allows effortless opening under high loads using a control line. Available with swivel eye, large swivel bail or tack version.

Plunger Pin Snap Shackles
Wichard’s classic plunger pin type is the standard choice of discerning sailors worldwide. Ideal for halyards and sheets they feature a captivated plunger pin with an ultra-strong ring pull. Forged in highly polished HR (High Resistance 17.4PH) stainless steel for maximum strength and reliability this large range are stronger and lighter than standard Snap Shackles.

Thimble Snap Shackles
Forged in HR (High Resistance 17.4PH) stainless steel for strength and reliability, Wichard’s Thimble version features a plastic molding to allow safe splicing directly onto the shackle without the need for an additional stainless steel thimble.

Standard Stainless Steel Snap Shackles
Manufactured from AISI 316 stainless steel for a perfect compromise between strength and corrosion resistance, Proboat Standard Snap Shackles are an economical alternative to a fully forged Snap Shackle. Featuring welded pull rings for extra security, they are fully guaranteed offering exceptional quality and value.
